Your Donor Area

Where your hair is harvested from matters.

The donor area is an area on the back and sides of your head where hair is not affected by the hormone, DHT, that triggers male pattern baldness. The hair on the back and sides of your head is is permanently growing hair and when transplanted to your balding areas, it will continue to grow as it did before it was transplanted.

Your donor area is just as vital to the results as your transplant area. Your donor area should appear untouched after your hair grows in where it was trimmed for your ARTAS® Robotic Procedure. An everyday question is “Will the hair in my transplanted area be damaged during the procedure?” The good news is no.

Upon harvest, your hair follicles are implanted into the thinning areas of your scalp. The optimal placement of these hair follicles is vital to achieve an artful aesthetic result. Your physician will build your recipient site making treatment design with the ARTAS Hair Studio® technology. This treatment design will then be transferred to the ARTAS® System for your Recipient Site Making pattern.
