What Are Esthetic Lasers?

Esthetic lasers get rid of brown spots, wrinkles, and broken capillaries. They also smooth cellulite, tighten sagging skin, and permanently remove unwanted hair. Our clients are always telling us they wish they’d used esthetic lasers sooner. When we ask what took them so long, they tell us they thought it would be too expensive. If you’re like many of our clients, you will be surprised at just how affordable esthetic laser treatments can be.

Esthetic Lasers Now More Affordable Than Ever

In the past, esthetic laser treatments were priced out of reach for the average person. It seemed esthetic lasers were reserved exclusively for the rich and famous.  Esthetic treatments were done in high-end Beverly Hills or New York dermatology clinics. Today, esthetic lasers are the hottest trending treatments for skin rejuvenation, hair reduction, and body contouring. Now you can get the same esthetic laser treatments as the celebrities at the National Laser Institute Med Spa but for a fraction of the price. You don’t have to be rich or famous; esthetic laser treatments are now more affordable than ever.

The reason esthetic laser treatments are usually so expensive is because the laser machines are pricey, and a series of treatments are needed to see results. Not all esthetic laser providers offer the type of laser that treats the specific condition you’re concerned about because they can only afford one or two esthetic laser machines. At the National Laser Institute Med Spa, we have all the top esthetic lasers, because our training institute educates physicians, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, nurses, estheticians, laser technicians, and career changers from around the world.

How Do Esthetic Lasers Work?

Different types of lasers correct different skin concerns. They are specialized with different wavelengths that go to different skin depths, with specific targets. Esthetic lasers target a high-powered, direct beam of intense light to get rid of what you don’t want including dark spots, scars, broken capillaries, and fat cells. Esthetic lasers also give you what you do want including a boost in collagen production and tightening of your skin.

How Are Lasers Different From IPL?

The technology behind esthetic lasers is different from IPL, an acronym for intense pulsed light. Both esthetic lasers and IPL use targeted blasts of light and heat. Esthetic lasers are more targeted than IPL, which targets a broader area of concern. IPL treats brown spots and broken capillaries, but not as effectively as a laser which targets one or the other.

Laser Hair Reduction

IPL also treats unwanted hair by targeting the color in the hair and zapping the hair follicle into its resting state. Laser hair removal on legs, underarms, and the bikini area is one of the most common IPL treatments and is often referred to as the gateway to esthetic laser treatments.

What Types of Lasers Are There?

There are a lot of options when it comes to esthetic lasers including the ruby, the diode, and the Erbium YAG. Manufacturers of esthetic lasers include, but are not limited to, Sciton, Syneron, and Fraxel.

Two decades ago, the best esthetic lasers were ablative. Ablative lasers like the Co2 and Erbium YAG improve the texture of the skin, reduce wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage. Ablative esthetic lasers work by removing the top layer of skin for treatment, creating a controlled injury to form fresh, new skin. While the results are dramatic, ablative esthetic lasers can be painful and it can take a long time for the skin to heal.

The contemporary trend in esthetic lasers has advanced to non-ablative lasers. Non-ablative lasers work by fractionally, or partly resurfacing the skin, to create dramatic results without the downtime. Essentially, the skin is left intact while collagen is stimulated beneath the skin.

How Do I Choose The Right Provider?

The best way to choose the right esthetics laser provider is to look for certification and experience. Have they been trained on laser safety? Do they know how to customize the right laser treatment to the right skin type? Training is key to safely and effectively using esthetic lasers to treat skin concerns.
