Sleeping Beauty
A recent article in Latina magazine, Take Note Chicas! Jennifer Lopez is Sharing her #1 Beauty Rule, caught our attention today. We always follow J Lo and eat up every morsel she dishes, especially if it’s about a beauty secret. The article is based on an Entertainment Tonight interview in which the gorgeous 46-year-old mother of two reveals her beauty secret: getting tons of beauty rest. Could J Lo be a real-life Sleeping Beauty?
Sleeping Beauty
“There is a limit,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “You will fall down at a certain point, and mommies can’t do that. Mommies have to be good for the babies at all times. They need to know that you’re solid and strong and good. Sleep is very important. I get my seven to eight hours sleep no matter what.”
How does sleep benefit skin? Geoff Wright, a London-based expert in chronobiology (the study of the body clock), says: ”There are set times when our body clock dictates that various processes take place in hair and skin. From 8pm to 11pm is the time for hydration and stimulation, while 11pm to 3am is the time for nutrition and regeneration, and 3am to 5am is the time for resting.”
Our cells rebuild and repair themselves while we sleep. If we don’t sleep, this function is limited. So it is a good idea to apply your anti aging serum and retinol before bed so your skin will get the most benefit when the absorption of nutrients is at its prime.
It seems as though J Lo is in fact, a real-life Sleeping Beauty. Research backs up her beauty secret claim: a good sleep can make you look younger, especially when you pair it with anti aging serums and retinol.
